Again, WHAT A PARTY!! Our hosts provided HHH with a “most excellent” venue for our club’s Annual Holiday Party. The out did themselves with all the seasonal decorations and adornments. These included two Christmas trees and Seasonal paper towels in the guest bathroom!
It was nice to see so many of our old crowd decked out in their brief, but decorative holiday outfits. We also had some new and prospective members who were attending our Christmas party for the first time.
The Hospitality Committee provided HHH a splendid Holiday gathering with all the embellishments. The cooking and food preparation was absolutely splendid! In fact, many of believe the food was better than last year! We started with deviled eggs, cheese and crackers, chicken dip, chips and dips, veggie tray, and avocados stuffed with seafood! Dinner consisted of fruit salad, green salad, bean salad, corn bread, smoked turkey, mac and cheese, veggie lasagna, venison sausage, chicken, beef tips, Boudin, and brisket.
The real fun started when Sylvia read The Cajun Night Before Christmas. Her Cajun accent had a Jersey lilt to it. We sang traditional Holiday songs, and with much anticipation, we began our White Elephant Gift Exchange. Santa handed out the gifts with his usual exuberance. Santa was assisted by an Elf who helped keep the evening flowing smoothly. A new Member was the first to choose a gift from under the tree… His gifts were taken three times, and he ended up with Bailey's Irish Crème. There were the usual number of gift takings and retakings which left many people with what they wanted in the first place. I can assure you that competition for highly prized gift cards, books and bottles of liquid cheer was challenging. The air was filled with excitement and merriment, as we ended HHH another evening.
